Free HOPE Chalkboard Printables

Hello!

Hope you're having a good week. This weekend I made a chalkboard poster for an empty frame in our home and thought I'll share it with you. I made another two, just for the fun of it :-). I just LOVE the chalkboard trend (we have a few around the house) and I think we can all do with a bit of encouragement to never lose hope!

Coffee table/Ottoman Extreme Makeover

Hi there!

As part of transforming our living room to become like this. I gave our dark ottoman/coffee table a makeover. This was by far one of my favorite projects and I'm in love with the end result.

Let's get started. This is what I was working with ... Not so nice!

I had leftover eyelet curtains from our previous home that I can't use in our new home. So what do you use old curtains for? You upholster coffee tables, of course!

This is what I was going for...

I draped the curtain over the ottoman to cut of the ends I'll won't need. I didn't even bother to cut straight as nobody will ever see my laziness :-) . When I had the right size going I grabbed my stapler gun (yup this is ALL equipment you need for this project!!).

I started by attaching the one side of the curtain very tightly to the base of the ottoman. Again not my neatest job!!

The only slightly tricky part was to fold in the corners, in the end I did it just as you would wrap a present. Like this...

And that is all! It was one of the fastest projects with the most extreme difference.

Just one more look... Oh I love this now!

Thanks for stopping by!

Easy Butternut, Beetroot and Feta Salad

Hi there!

Today I'll share one of my go-to salads. It's yummy, it's easy and always a crowd pleaser!

What you need?
  • 1 packet baby spinach
  • 500g chopped butternut
  • 500g baby beetroot (I just bought the babies 'cause it's cute!)
  • 2 wheels Feta
  • Olive oil
  • Brown sugar
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Thyme
  • Balsamic drizzle
Put the beetroot and the butternut on a baking tray and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper and add a little thyme to the butternut. Mix some brown sugar with balsamic drizzle and pour over beetroot. Pop the beetroot and butternut into a 180˚C (350˚F) oven for 45 minutes. When the veggies feel soft, take it out of the oven and let it cool.

Place the cool veggies on a bed of baby spinach, crumb the feta, drizzle with balsamic vinegar and voila!

You can even substitute the feta with blue cheese or add a few pumpkin seeds. Yum!

Enjoy!

Nightstand Makeover with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™

Hi there.

Today I'm showing off our nightstand makeover. We got the nightstand from my sister-in-laws' mother. She was decluttering and asked if we were interested...Of course we were!!

This was my second project with Annie Sloan ChalkPaint (see first here...), and I still LOVE it. I painted the body with French Linen and the knobs with Old White. I just love these two colors together.

The nightstand is made of pine (which I hate), but it only took two coats to make me fall in love with it.

On the photo below you can see the effect I was going for on the middle part. I painted it with a foam-roller in Old White and waited for it to dry. I took a dry brush and just lightly went over the white with the French Linen.

I'm so please with the result and the guestroom is looking good. I did a matching mirror which I will share with you soon :-)

Another look at the BEFORE and AFTER...

So what do you think?
